Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra performs tribute to the Flames

In an encore performance at the Jack Singer Saturday night, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra and chorus tweaked the lyrics of Carl Orff's "O Fortuna."

As Flames forwards Jiri Hudler and Michael Ferland scored the final goalsSaturday night at the Saddledome, a few blocks away,couple thousand peopleweretaking in a performance bythe CalgaryPhilharmonic Orchestra.

At the end of the concert, residentconductor Adam Johnsonreturned to the stage of the Jack Singer Concert Halland announced that Calgary was onits way to round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Cheers and chants filled the auditorium, butbefore the crowd really got going,theCPOorchestra chorus stepped on stage.

"What was special about this encore is that the content of it was dependent on the outcome of the Calgary Flames game that was going to take place that night," said CPOassistant principal bassoonist Michael Hope.

Choir director Timothy Shantzand his wife tweakedthe lyricsto Carl Off's "OFortuna", allowingCPOsingers and musicians to deliver theirown specialtribute tothe Calgary Flames.
