'Truly great people' killed, 2 others injured in altercation at home in Panorama Hills
Police say altercation between several people inside the home escalated to a violent assault
Two people are dead and two others are in hospital after a violent assault at a Panorama Hills home Saturday morning.
Just after 5 a.m., emergency crews were called to a home in the 1-100 block of Panamount Common N.W. for reports of four peoplein medical distress.
According to Calgary police Duty Insp. Tom Hanson, five people were in the home four men and one woman.
Two of the men were declared dead at the home, police say. One man was taken to hospital in critical, life-threatening condition and another man in serious condition.
The woman was not injured and is being interviewed by police.
Police say they believe an altercation between several people in the house became violent.
Neighbours say the deceased men and one of the injured men worked for a cleaning service.
On Saturday, a manager of the company said he'd been told by a relative of the family that two of his employees had been killedand a third was injured.
He says the pair who died were a father and son and the father had worked with the company for 15 years. His twin boys worked with him.
The manager described them as "truly great people," who were helpful and kind.
CBC isn't identifying the victims until police have confirmed family members have been informed.
Police believe the fourth man involved was known to the family.
An 'unexpected' scene
EMS spokesperson Stuart Brideauxsaid the scene paramedics encountered was an unexpected one.
"We were initially called for what we believed to be one patient in medical distress, so it certainly was unexpected for us to walk into that scene, however given the resources we already had, they were able to shift their attention quite quickly," he said.
"It certainly was unexpected for the paramedics, however theyagain were able to respond effectively to the two patients that required transport."
Brideaux described the injuries sustained as "traumatic."
Police saythey are not looking for suspects.
The homicide unit is investigating.
