Calgary police have arrested a man on 11 offences and seized $100,000 worth of cash and drugs following a month-long investigation.

On Sept.12, police conducted what it deemed to be a high-risk traffic stop on 39th Street S.W. and seized 482 grams of cocaine, nearly 40 grams of crack cocaine and six grams of Oxycontin, along with more than $49,000 in cash and a loaded 9-mm handgun.

"We are continuing to target individuals linked to organized drug trafficking and recent violence in our city," Staff Sgt. Greg Cooper of the Calgary Police Service saidin a release issued Monday afternoon.

"We are encouraging anyone with information about drugs or firearms to report it to us. Tips can always be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers."

Police charged Abdu-Rahman Hasan, 28, with 11 offences, including three counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Police said the investigation came as part of an ongoing operation initiated in response to a recent spell of violence and shootings in Calgary.

Hasan will appear in court in early October.
