Police investigate after body found near Banff Trail intersection

Calgary police are investigating what they're calling an undetermined death in the city's northwest.

In a media release on Thursday, police said the homicide unit was investigating after a body was found near the intersection of 18thAvenue/Victoria Crescent and 20thStreet N.W. in the Banff Trail community.

Police responded at about3:20 p.m.for reports of a man who wasfound unresponsive on a road. Upon EMS arrival, the man was declared dead, police said.

Officers canvassedthe area for witnesses, security camera footage and additional evidence to determine the circumstances that led to the man's death, police said.

The intersection remained closed for several hours as the investigation continued.
