Car chase ends in Didsbury with arrest of man wanted on Canada-wide warrant

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant is facing multiple charges after police used a spike belt to stop a stolen SUV that led them on a high-speed car chase from Calgary to Didsbury.

Suspect drives wrong way on Stoney Trail, hitting speeds of 160 km/h

A man wanted on a Canada-wide warrantis facing multiple charges after leading police on a high speed chase Wednesday night part of it headed the wrong way on Calgary's Stoney Trail.

It started around 9:45 p.m. MT onWednesday in the south end of the city when police saw the suspect in a stolen Escalade.

The drivertook off, hitting speeds of 160 km/h, andgoing the wrong way on Stoney Trail at one point.

He managed to steal another truck and headed north out of the city.

RCMP used a spike belt near Airdrie which blew out the front tires, but the suspect kept going to Didsbury, where he was arrested.

Calgary police have not yet released the name of the suspect, butsay he was wanted on a Canada wide warrant and is facing a long list of charges.
