'A travelling pharmacopeia': More than $192K of drugs and cigarettes seized in downtown Calgary

Two people have been arrested and close to $200,000 worth of drugs and cigarettes seized in what Calgary police say was a three-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Two people have been arrested and close to $200,000 worth of drugs and cigarettes seized in what Calgary police say was a three-month investigation into drug trafficking.

Police said the probe beganafter Crime Stoppers received a tip.

Starting in January, police said they started to observe activity that was consistent with trafficking at a southeast Calgary residence, as well as in a2005silver Buick Rendezvous they said was connected to the investigation.

Two individuals, a man and a woman, were arrested on April 4 after search warrants were executed.

Police seized the following items:

  • 1,713 oxycodone pills
  • 3,122 grams of dried cannabis
  • 102 grams of hash
  • 83 capsules of synthetic cannabis
  • 80 grams of cocaine
  • 141 grams of methamphetamine
  • 50 grams and five capsules of fentanyl
  • 1,178 grams of psilocybin
  • 128 Xanax bars
  • 519 cartons of illicit cigarettes
  • $10,548 in cash

"This was a travelling pharmacopeia of drugs and cigarettes and a clear example of how police and the community can work together to put a stop to this kind of behaviour in our community. Thank you to the member of public who came forward with information," said Staff Sgt.Kurt Jacobsof the general investigations unit, in a release.
