Calgary police determine death near Bow River non-criminal

A body was discovered on the south side of the Bow River on Sunday morning, prompting homicide detectives to launch an investigation.

Police believe the death that occurred near the Bow River on the weekend is non-criminal in nature, after an autopsy was completed on Tuesday.

In a release, police said no further information would be released.

A body was discovered on the south side of the Bow River on Sunday morning.

The Calgary police received reports of a body near the river around 10:45 a.m.On reaching the scene, officers discovered the body underneath the 14th Streetbridge.

Initially, the cause of death was"undetermined" and the homicide unit launched an investigation.

The investigators went through security camera footage and talked to witnesses.

The autopsy was conducted Tuesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
