"A nude, unknown man suddenly grabbed one of the women in a sexual nature," police said Monday in a news release.

"The man proceeded to pin one of the other women down to the ground," police said. "Two of the women were able to escape and run back to the residence, where they called police."

Officers responding to the scene found the thirdwoman, who was walking alone back to the residence, at about 1:05 a.m.

Police did door knocks in the area and used a helicopter and canine unit to search for the man.

Heis described as aCaucasian male with dark hair and facial hair.

None of the woman were hospitalized, police said.

"Serious incidents, especially when they appear to be random, are extremely concerning for victims and for the whole community," said Staff Sgt. Brad Moore of the Calgary Police Service.

"We have increased patrols in the area where the reported attack occurred, and officers are continuing to investigate. We are asking citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to police."

Clarifications

  • A previous version of this story reported that police believed a man who had been sitting in a black truck outside the victims' address earlier in the evening was connected with the later assault. Police later issued a correction, saying investigators no longer believed that to be the case.
