Sex assault charges pending after 2 women say they were held against their will at Parkhill home

One man faces possible sex assault charges after a standoff in the southwest Calgary community of Parkhill that began when two young women fled the home, telling police they had been held against their will.

Two men were taken into custody following a standoff that was sparked by two women fleeing from a home at this complex in Parkhill in southwest Calgary early Friday morning. (CBC)

One man faces possible sex assault charges after alengthy standoff in the southwest Calgary community of Parkhill that began when two young women fled the home, telling police they had been held against their will.

The women left the housearound 5:30 a.m. Friday and called police.

Officers with the tactical unit and sex crimes unit surroundedthe residence on the 200 block of42ndAvenue S.W. and a one-hour standoff ensued.

"As we had containment set up, several people exited and were co-operative with us," said Staff Sgt. Rob Davidson.

Two men, believed to be brothers,along with another woman, came out of the house shortly after 11 a.m., Davidson said.

One of the men, believed to be in his 20s, was arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault against one of the women.

"We're currently investigating allegations of a sexual assault, drugs, prostitution and weapons," he said.

"And we're digging deeper into the possibility that there was an unlawful confinement component."
