2 shootings leave 1 man dead, 1 in non-life-threatening condition

Two shootings in Calgary on Thursday have left one man dead and another person in non-life-threatening condition, police say.

No connection between the 2 shootings is being reported at this time

Two shootings in Calgary on Thursday have left one man dead and another person in non-life-threatening condition, police say.

There's no indication whether the two incidents are connected.

In the first incident,police said they were called to the 1200 block of 17th Street S.W. to reports of a shooting at approximately 3:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in an alley.

"Despite officers and paramedics performing lifesaving efforts on the victim, he was pronounced dead on scene," police said in a release.

There is a large police presence in the area. A number of streets in the community are shut down.

No more details were immediately available.

Second shooting

Police were also called to respond to a shooting just before 5 p.m. nearCastleridge Boulevard and Westwinds Drive N.E.

Police say a "situation" between two motorists resulted in a "shot being fired and a person being injured."

The wounded individual managed to get to a nearby gas station and callpolice. Police say the individual was in non-life-threatening condition.
