Calgarianson Saturday will be gathering at a number of locations across the city for Remembrance Day ceremonies to honour those who served.

It's a day that is important to every Canadian, said Tammy Wheeler, executive director at Alberta-NWT Command of the Royal Canadian Legion.

"It is the day where we can all stop and take a minute to remember the sacrifices made by Canada's veterans on our behalf. We must all remember that the freedoms we all enjoy are not free and that many veterans have paid the ultimate price in the service of Canada," she said.

That legion will host a service starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

Across Calgary, other ceremonies will take place to commemorate the occasion.
