Remembrance Day Calgary 2015: Where you can pay your respects on Nov. 11

Here is a list of ceremonies to attend on Nov. 11

Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium

10:30 a.m. |141514thAve. N.W.

Auditorium doors open at 9:30 a.m. while theceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. It willconclude at 11:45 a.m.

The Military Museums

10:30 a.m. | 4520 Crowchild Tr. S.W.

This is one of Calgary's largest ceremonies, so getting there early is recommended. Service begins at 10:30 a.m. Some parking available in the field east of the Parade Square, with overflow at the Flames Community Arena to the south.

Field of Crosses Memorial Project

10:45 a.m. |Memorial DriveN.W. between Third Streetand Centre Street(also known asSunnysideBank Park)

Thousands of crosses are erected every year to honour southern Alberta soldiers who died in combat. A flag-raising ceremony happens at sunrise with the ceremony starting at 10:45 a.m. There is public parking at the west end of the park.

Central Memorial Park

10a.m. |1221 Second St. S.W.

The service is held at the cenotaph of Calgary's oldest park and starts at 10a.m. The Calgary Highlanders Infantry Regiment attend this service, among others in the city.

Aero Space Museum of Calgary

10:30 a.m. |4629McCallWay N.E.

Service begins at 10:30 a.m. but seating is limited so arriving early is strongly recommended. The museum stays open until 4p.m. and admission is by donation.

Battalion Park

10:30 a.m. |3001 Signal Hill Dr. S.W.

The fourth year for this service and organizers say it will be bigas 2015 marks 100 years since troops were deployed from this site. The 90-minute service starts at 10:30 a.m.

Baitun Nur Mosque

2:30 p.m. | 4353 54th Ave. N.E.

Hundreds of Muslims will participate in a special ceremony at the mosque to honour soldiers and their families. The event will feature making a human poppy.

Kerby Centre

10:50 a.m. |1133 Seventh Ave. S.W.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. with the service starting at 10:50 a.m. in the gymnasium. Everyone is welcome and refreshments will follow the service.

Canadian Pacific

10:30 a.m. |7550 Ogden Dale Rd. S.E.

Canadian Pacific honours more than 33,000 CP employees who served in World War I and World War II. The 2015 ceremony will be held at CP's new Memorial Square built last year to honour the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War. Parking will be available at the lot by the 69th AvenueS.E. and Ogden Dale RoadS.E. entrance.

Calgary International Airport

10:30 a.m. |2000 Airport Rd. N.E.

A large ceremony for travellers and anyone else who wants to pay tribute. It is also attended by Calgary Police Services, RCMP, Calgary Fire Department, Calgary Emergency Medical Services, Royal Air Force and many others. Ceremony starts at 10:30 a.m. with a second shorter service for airport employees and travellers at 10:40 a.m.

Burnsland Cemetery Tours

2p.m. to 3:30 p.m. |28th AvenueandSpiller RoadS.E.

Tours honour the Canadian Military and RCMP. Meet at the Galloway House, on the east side of Union Cemetery. Vehicle entrance is off Spiller Rd. S.E.

HillhurstUnited Church

10:45 a.m. |1227 Kensington Close N.W.

There will be a ceremony held at 10:45 a.m. at the church located in northwest Calgary. The church is fully wheelchair accessible,with FM Audio for hearing impaired.

Chinook Centre

11 a.m. |6455 Macleod Trail S.W.

The 2015 Calgary Poppy Fund's annual campaign is underway at Chinook Centre with a special display and representatives from the legion in the mall's centre court. Live buglers will perform prior to a moment of silence at11 a.m.

Poppy Plaza

All day | Memorial Drive at 10 St. N.W.

This park commemorates those who have served to protect our freedom and security and is open from5 a.m. to11 p.m.daily.

Royal Canadian Legions

Various locations

Theceremony at theKensington location,at1910 Kensington Rd. N.W., will be followed by lunch andrefreshments.Doors open at 9:30 a.m. and close at9:45 a.m.The service begins at10:45 a.m.
