Calgary Police seek suspects in home invasion, seniors beating

Calgary Police and Crime Stoppers have re-enacted a home invasion and beatingthat left anelderly couple with life-altering injuries. Investigators hope anyone with more information will come forward.

A pair of thieves broke into a Thorncliffe home early on the morning of December 18. The men demanded money andjewelry andattackedthe senior couple before fleeing.

"Before this happened, both my parents,in their 70s, were strong self-reliant people," said Ada, daughter of the victims, "both are still traumatized, havingnightmares and feel unsafe in their own home."

Her father is weak and struggles to walk, while her mother has alreadyhad facial reconstructive surgery and is awaitingmore surgery to repair vision in one of her eyes.

"[They] get up in the morning and they're scared to walk into the kitchen, they're scared to hear noises in their house and they're not sleeping. It's been tough on them."

Investigators believe the attack was targeted, but aren't clear exactly how.

"Certainly, with this being known in the community, people are going to be looking over their shoulders because we don't know the exact motive and the exact relationship, so we don't know if it's truly random or truly targeted," saidDet. SteveAdairwith the robbery unit.

He says he'snot sure what type ofweapon was used.

"It's senseless," said Adair.

Police have a couple of persons of interest butare looking for two suspects. One isCaucasian, in his late 20s, 6 feet2 inchestall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue and white bandana across his face during thehomeinvasion.

The second man is described as Caucasian, in his early 20s, 5 feet10 inchestall with a medium build. He was also wearing a bandana over his face.

The family is hoping any arrests or charges willbring them closure.

"We need to find these people that are responsible for this horrible crime," said Ada.
