Police investigating 2 overnight shootings in Calgary

Police are investigating a pair of overnight shootings in Calgary, with one sending a man to hospital. The incidents are not thought to be connected.

Police are investigating a pair of overnight shootings in Calgary, with one sending a man to hospital.

The first happened late Thursday. An injured man was found at a strip mall in the 1200 block of 17th Avenue S.W. following reports of gunshots at 11:45 p.m.

He was taken to hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Police said on Friday they believe the shooting was a targeted attack and happened several blocks away, in the 1800 block of11thAvenue S.W.

That's just a block away from where a shooting happened Tuesday evening inside an apartment in the 1900 block of 11thAvenue S.W. A man was sent to hospital in life-threatening condition, but his condition has since been upgraded. It's not known if the two shootings in Sunaltaare connected.

The second overnight shooting happened about 2:45 a.m. in the 3500 block of 17th Avenue S.E. when a bullet was fired through the driver's door of a vehicle.

The driver is co-operating with investigators and police don't believe the overnight shootings are related.
