Calgary snow blankets city roads for morning commute
Significant overnight accumulation made for long drives on Wednesday
A significantdump of snow overnight madefor a slippery morning commute in Calgary.
There were 65 collisions on Calgary roads between midnight and 10:45 a.m. on Wednesdayeight of them involving injuries, police say.
Drivers wereadvised to be careful during the morning commute. The city said crews would be out plowing routes throughout the day.
"They were saying scattered showers, it was supposed to miss us. I didn't expect quite as much, but that's life. We're Calgary," said Brian Herbert as he shovelled his walk.
"I saw it coming down last night, so I knew I was going to be out today."
There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries on both Wednesday and Thursday night, but Environment Canada says the sun is expected to shine this weekend.
