Calgary spends twice as much on snow removal this winter

Calgary snow removal costs have more than doubled this season because of all the snow.

Costs for December and January total more than $23 million.That compares to $11.2 million last winter.

To date, Calgary has had 114.3 centimetres of snow since October,25.5 centimetres more than the year before.

The city is also wrapping up its two-month Snow Action Plan, which focused on dealing with the snow onresidential routes.
