Man taken to hospital after arrest at Brentwood LRT had fled transit officers, police say

Calgary police say a man who was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition shortly after being arrested at the Brentwood LRT station had fled from Calgary Transit officers before he went into medical distress.

Calgary police say a man who was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition shortly after being arrested at the Brentwood LRT station had fled from Calgary Transit officers before he went into medical distress.

Police were called to the Brentwood LRT station around 10:30 p.m. to assist Calgary Transit peace officers with the arrest following routine fare checks, police said in a release.

The 40-year-old man tried to escape arrest but was apprehended a short distance away.

When policearrived, the man was in medical distress, police said.

He was given CPR and then taken to hospital, where he remains in life-threatening condition.

Investigators have spoken to the officers and are reviewing CCTV footage, police said.

Brentwoodstation was closed for the remainder of the night, but it opened for regular service Wednesday morning.
