CanmoreRCMPsay it was a residential break-and-enter investigation that led to the lockdown of a middle school on Tuesday afternoon.

Around 12:20 p.m. officers responded after a witness heard a "pop" from inside a home and "observed a hole in one of the windows."

As a result, RCMPcordoned off the area and alerted nearby Lawrence Grassi Middle School of the incident in order to ensure students remained safe inside.

Dogs and the RCMPEmergency Response Team cleared the house without finding the suspect.
