RCMP release sketches of Red Deer carjacking suspects

Police in Red Deer are looking for help identifying two suspects linked to a carjacking last week when a woman was threatened with a machete.

Police in Red Deer are hoping sketches will help identify two suspects linked toa carjackinglast week when a womanwas threatened with a machete.

Around 10:30 p.m.onSept. 5, awoman was standing near her Volkswagen Jetta on Nash Streetwhen she saw a Ford Escape crash into a nearby building.

That's when two men approached the womanand demandedher keys, one of them wielding a machete, police say.

The two suspects sped off in the woman's car, which police found some time latercrashed into a trash bin. The woman's purse was found in the car butthe men had already fled with money inside.

Red Deer RCMPhave released sketches of the suspects and are asking the public for information on the men.

The first suspect is described as Aboriginal, in his 20s, standing five foot four with short, messy black hair and a thin build. He was wearing gloves, jeansanda baggy, dark-coloured sweater.

The second suspect is described as white, about 20 years old, five foot six with a thin build. He was wearing a grey sweater and jeans.
