CBC Calgary has supported the Calgary Food Bank for the past 38 years and in december of 2023, Calgarians helped raise a record-breaking $2,251,113.74 for the local Make the Season Kind campaign.

On Blitz Day, Calgary Food Bank president and CEO Melissa From said staff have seen an increase in demand for their services, but the community stepped up.

"The glass-half-full side of this is that we have been able to meet the demand. We were able to clear that backlog. We're able to feed the folks who are coming to us because of the generosity of Calgarians," she said.

Make the Season Kind wrapped up on Dec. 22, 2023, and the final total was announced Jan. 3 on the Calgary Eyeopener.
