Police investigate after cat food laced with sulphuric acid found in Confederation Park

Calgary police are investigating after cat food laced with chemicals was found in a northwest park.

Calgary police are investigating after cat food laced with chemicals was found in a northwest park.

Police saidan unidentified man was seenplacing cat food in and around the trees at the park, located in the1000 block of 24th AvenueN.W., on three separate occasions this month.

Investigators and the Calgary fire department's HAZMATteam saidthe food contained chemicals not typically found in cat food products.

The chemicals were identified asboth sulphuric acid and phenyltoloxamine citrate, which police saidwould cause pain and possibly death to an animalshould itingest enough.

Confederation Parkis visited frequently by families with young children and pets, which police saidmakes the incidents even more concerning.
