A woman has been charged in connection with a collision in Bowness that killed a four-year-old girl earlier this year.

The girl was walking with her family and their dog on the evening of May 6 along 79th Street and 47th Avenue N.W. when she was struck, police say.

A Ford F150 heading west on 47th Avenue had initially stopped and then slowly went through the intersection, just as the girl ran across the street into its path.

She suffered fatal head injuries.

A 38-year-old woman is charged with careless driving and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

She will appear in court on Nov. 2.
