City's first Pride bus set to roll through Calgary streets
Rainbow bus will run on all routes and be in the Calgary Pride Parade
CalgaryTransit rolled out the city's first Pride bus on Thursday.
The bus will operate on all routes and be part of the Calgary Pride Parade on Sept. 6.
The rainbow-coloured bus is a partnership between Calgary Transit, Pride Calgary and Pattison Outdoor, an advertising agency.
"We're hoping to celebrate the diversity that is Calgary," said Doug Morgan, director of Calgary Transit
"We want to celebrate our customers . . .and that our doors are open to everyone . . . recognizing Calgary is changing and we want to be part of that."
Morgan said the cost to wrap the bus was $9,000 and was paid for by the three partners, not Calgary taxpayers.
