Cochrane man charged after .357 revolver stolen from his unlocked vehicle

Cochrane RCMP say they've charged a 53-year-old man with unsafe storage of a firearm after his .357 revolver and 25 rounds of ammunition were stolen from the centre console of his unlocked vehicle.

'Firearms should never be left unattended and be secured at all times,' RCMP reminds gun owners

Cochrane RCMPsay they'vecharged a53-year-old manwith unsafe storage of a firearmafter his .357 revolver and 25 rounds of ammunition were stolen from the centre console of his unlocked vehicle.

The man came to the CochraneRCMP detachment on Sunday to report the handgun had been stolen once he realized it was missing from his vehicle, police said.

The handgun remains missing and police said theyhave no suspects or witnesses.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cochrane RCMP at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

"The Cochrane RCMP would like to remind the public to ensure nothing of value or temptation is left in vehicles and to lock the doors," police said in a release.

"Firearms should never be left unattended and be secured at all times."
