1 dead after collision on Bow Bottom Trail

One man in his 30s is dead after a collision took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

One man in his 30s is dead after a collision took place at approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday.

The man's vehicle collided with a light pole on southbound Bow Bottom Trail and sustained significant damage, police said.

"It was a single vehicle collision, resulting in a fatality," said Detective Shawn Rupchan with Calgary police.

Calgary police said the collision took place between 137th Avenue and 146th Avenue S.E.

Rupchan said there were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the collision, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Traffic was closed for several hours while police attended the scene. Police said Bow Bottom Trail was reopened at approximately 8:15 a.m.

Police continue to investigate, but could not yet confirm the sequence of events that led to the collision.
