Man crushed to death at northwest Calgary construction site

A 35-year-old man is dead after being crushed by construction machinery and a concrete barrier this afternoon.

A 35-year-old man is dead after being crushed by machinery on a construction site in the city's northwest this afternoon, emergency medical officials say.

EMS says they found the constructionworker unconscious at the site near Rosehill Drive and 10th Street just after 1 p.m.

"[He] had been pinned between a piece of heavyconstructionmachinery and concrete barrier," EMS spokesmanAdam Loria said in a statement.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but he diedof his injuries.He was declared dead at the scene.

Alberta's Occupational Health and Safety department is investigating.
