Cougar sighting forces trail closure in Canmore

A trail at the Canmore Nordic Centre is closed after the discovery of cougar activity in the area.

Officials at the Nordic Centre found a mule deer carcass and decided to close Rundle Trail as a precaution.

They say this kind of thing happens a handful of times every year but that this closure will only have a minor impact.

Most other trails are still open and warning signs are up.

The Nordic Centre says people should be safe if they obey these signs.

It is also suggesting that people carry bear spray and travel in groups.
