An outbreak of COVID-19 has been confirmed at theFledglings Educare Centre in Calgary, the province confirmed on Friday.

Five cases have been linked to the outbreak, which includes three children. Two have already recovered.

The government did not release theages of those affected, but children attending the southwest daycare and preschool are between one year old and 12 years old.

Tom McMillan, assistant director of communications for the Alberta government, said in an email that health officials took action as soon as the first case was identified and contact tracing is now underway.

The identified cases involve a small cohort, which lessens the likelihood of wider exposure, McMillan said. Anyone at risk of being exposed has been isolated and tested.
