It is the second time the prostitute's self defence claim was rejected.Crowchild was first convicted of murder in 2013 butthe Alberta Court of Appeal overturned the rulingand ordered a new trial.

The jury deliberated Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning before reaching its verdict.

The body of 64-year-oldArefSelmanNassereddinewas discovered by his wife and six-year-olddaughter in March2010.

The Crown prosecutor said there was no question the prostitute stabbed her clientshe had told friends, family and police that she did it. But if the jury found she was acting in self-defence, Crowchild would have been acquitted.

The two had sex butNassereddine wanted more, andCrowchild refused. He followed her downstairs where she stabbed him several times, according to the opening statement to the jury.

A second-degree murder conviction comes with a life sentence with no chance of parole for at least 10 years.
