Man killed by CTrain fell between stationary cars before being dragged

The man who was killed by a CTrainMonday had fallen between cars while the trainwas stopped at a station, police say.

The man who was killed by a CTrainMonday had fallen between cars while the trainwas stopped at a station, police say.

Then the trainbegan to roll out of the 7th Street S.W. station, giving him life-threatening injuries as it draggedhima short distance, police said.

The man later died at the Foothills hospital. Police didn't identify him publicly but said he was 32.

Police said Tuesday that excessive speed wasn't a factor in the death but they were still investigating whether drugs or alcohol played a role.

On Monday, transit servicedowntown was significantly impacted as a result of the collision, with Calgary Transit shutting down trains through the area.

Later in the evening, regular service resumed.
