Dangerous driving leads to vehicle rolling into ditch, catching fire

A man was transported to hospital with only non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle clipped the side of a semi truck, rolled into a ditch and caught on fire.

A man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after his vehicle clipped the side of a semi-truck, rolled into a ditch and caught on fire.

Early on Sunday, Cochrane RCMPresponded to an incident in which a vehicle was driving head-on into incoming traffic on Highway 22, located north of Cochrane.

According to a release, three vehicles swerved out of the way of the suspect vehicle before it came onto a collision course with a semi.

The semi attempted to avoid the collision, but the suspect vehicle clipped the side of the semi before rolling into a ditch and then catching on fire.

Police arrivedon scene and were able to extinguish the fire and extract the driver, a 36-year-old man from Calgary, from the vehicle. He was transported by EMS to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

No one else was injured in the incident. Charges are expected for the driver.
