Calgary hiker found dead near Lake Louise
Police believe the man was hiking alone and died after falling down steep, rocky terrain
The body of a male hiker from Calgary has been found north of Lake Louise.
Around 8:30p.m. on Monday, the Lake Louise RCMP were informed by Parks Canada that a group of hikers had discovered the body of a deceased man near Turquoise Lake, about 20 kilometres north of Lake Louise.
TheRCMPand Parks Canada were not able to recoverthe body of the 65-year-old man from Calgary until the next daydue to darkness.
Mounties said the manappeared to be a solo hiker who had been tenting overnight. It is believedthe man died when he fell while scrambling on steep, rocky terrain.
Parks Canada and the RCMP offered condolences to the family and friends of thehiker.
No further information will be released at this time, officials said.
