An elderly man is in hospital after being attacked by two dogs in northeast Calgary.

An elderly man is in hospital after being attacked by two dogs in northeast Calgary.

Gurdeev Gill,a neighbourwho witnessed the attack, told CBC News through a translator that two dogs ran into the Tarawood Place cul-de-sac and attacked theman, who was sitting on a chair in his driveway Friday at about 10 a.m.

Theunleashed, medium-sized dogs were chased by two women who put them in the back of a dark-colouredvan and sped off, she said. She couldn't identify the breed.

Bylaw officerswere going door-to-door to gather information on the attack. Spokesman Damian Cole confirmed Gill's account, saying his officers werealso huntingfor the van.

"According to eyewitnesses, the dogs did the attack and then a van turned up and the dogs were loaded onto a van and they were taken away," he said.

Peter Purba, another residentof the neighbourhood, said he wasn't surprised by the attack because he has seen aggressive, unleashed dogs running around the Taradale neighbourhoodbefore.

An emergency medical services spokesperson said the victimis in hospital, but in good condition.
