A retired Calgary physician is facing several new charges of sexually assaulting patients after first being accused by three women earlier this year.

Dr. Keith Mordin Hoyte, 70, was charged with three counts of sexual assault in June.

Police were contacted in January by a woman who reported she had been sexually touched without consent during an examination by a neurologist in 2007.

During the investigation, policefound two more old cases with similar allegations against the same doctor, one in 2008 and one in 1991.

On Wednesday, police announced Hoyte now faces an additional 18 charges following allegations he sexually touched 16 more patients during medical exams that occurred between 1983 and 2013.

Hoyte's next court appearance is set for Nov. 21.
