Drugs and weapons seized in police raids in Medicine Hat

Seven men have been charged with a total of 41 offences after police searched two Medicine Hat, Alta., homes and discovered drugs, weapons and ammunition.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team has charged seven people with a total of 41 drug and weapons offences after raiding two homes in Medicine Hat, Alta. (ALERT)

Seven men have been charged with a total of 41 offences after police searched two Medicine Hat, Alta., homes and discovered drugs, weapons and ammunition.

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) says Medicine policeand the RCMPundertook a three-month investigation into drug trafficking and firearms.

Officers raided two homes and found $40,000 worth of cocaine, heroin and other drugs, said ALERT in a news release.

  • 375 grams of cocaine;
  • 4 grams of heroin;
  • 40 hydromorphine pills;
  • 1 fentanyl pill;
  • 20 grams of cannabis resin;
  • 2 grams of psilocybin;
  • Cocaine press and packaging materials consistent with drug trafficking.

They also found two SKS carbine rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.

ALERT says the investigation continues and more charges and arrests are expected.
