Drumheller woman charged with stealing cancer funds from young patient's family

RCMP have charged a woman in Drumheller, Alta., with stealing money that was raised for a young cancer patient.

RCMPhave chargedawoman in Drumheller, Alta.,with stealing money that was raised for a young cancer patient.

The arrest comes after local citizens and businesses organized fundraising eventsin April forBrandon Hall,whowas diagnosed with cancer last fall at the age of 19.

Police said the proceeds fromthe events were ostensibly to go toward helping Hall and hisfamily with expenses.

But officers received a complaint in June that a substantialamount of the moneywas missing and never made it to the family.

The 33-year-old woman been charged with theft under $5,000.

She is set to appear in provincial court in Drumheller on Aug. 26.
