The University of Calgary says itsban one-cigarettes inside buildings and7.5metres from any doorway is being followed.

Peter May, theU of C's director of environment, health and safety, sayspeople are respecting the restrictions.

"I've heard of no instances of needs to enforce ... and typically that's probably also true on the smoking side it's a very well understood kind of rule on campus," he said.

May said the school implemented the ban in November as part of asmoking policy for the whole campus.

"What electronic cigarettes have been done is essentially classified in the same groupof things like cigarettes are in, so we kind of treat them like cigarettes," he said.

Two of Calgary's other post secondary institutions Mount Royal University and SAITPolytechnic say they are still working on policies fordealing with e-cigarettes.
