Calgary Easter egg hunt for dogs does not include chocolate

We all know chocolate and puppies don't mix, but now Calgary dog owners have a safe way to celebrate Easter with their fur babies.

We all know chocolate and puppies don't mix, but now Calgary dog ownershave a safe wayto celebrate Easter with their fur babies.

"Easter is one of those holidays where it's really kind of catered to people, it's rich food which dogs don't do well with," saidHolly Montgomery, who is organizing two Easter egg hunts for dogs this weekendin the city's southeast.

Montgomery will be hidingabout40 hollow plastic eggs with freeze-dried lamb tripe.

"It's one of the smelliest treats. The dogs will sniff that stuff out anywhere," said the Calgary dog photographer.

The eggs will contain aticket,which can be exchanged for some lootattheTail Blazers Health Food store for pets inCopperfield.

Prizes include dog toys and services from dog groomers, dog walkers and a dog photographer.

The family-friendly event runs March 26 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and March 27 from10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cooperfield, just east of McKenzie Towne.
