Enmax names interim CEO

Enmax has appointed a new interim CEO, after former company head Gary Holden resigned from his post last month.

Enmax has appointed one of the company's directors as new interim president and CEO.

Charles Ruigrok will lead the City of Calgary-owned utility while Enmax begins a search for a new president and CEO.

Ruigrok, currently on the Enmax board of directors, is a former CEO of Syncrude Canada and previously worked with Imperial Oil for 26 years.

"Charles has extensive management experience in the energy industry and we're very pleased he has agreed to take on this interim role as we begin our search for a president and CEO", Cliff Fryers, chairman of the Enmax board, said in a news release.

The job was vacated last month following the resignation of former CEO Gary Holden.

Holden resigned hours after CBC News revealed that he took a trip to Monaco in 2008 supplied by a German software company that does business with Enmax.

He labelled that story as well as other revelations made over the previous months about his salary, perks and company parties at his house as "distractions" to the company's ability to focus on matters critical to its success.
