CBC Calgary moves to new location after 6 decades on Westmount Blvd. N.W.
Company bids farewell to Westmount location, its home for nearly six decades
After nearly six decades ofradio, TV and online coverage from the same location, CBC/Radio-Canada has shifted its centreof operations to anew Calgary digs as of Oct. 23, 2017.
The broadcaster moved four kilometres west from 1724 Westmount Blvd. N.W. to a new building located at 1000 VeteransPlaceN.W.
Whenthe move was fast approaching,Calgary Eyeopener host David Gray threw open the doors to the Westmount building fora behind-the-scenes look at the semi-secretsecond floor.
PaulKarchut explored the building's colourful history through the lens of some of the earliest employees who worked there.
Staff packed up their desks earlier in the week after going through sometimes decades-old files, re-discovering all sorts of odds and ends.

By Oct. 23, all of the equipment was expected to be up and running at the new location, complete with 21,000 sq. ft., two radio production studios and five radio self-operated booths.
