Families join temporary camp for High River evacuees

High River's evacuee camp is expected to grow this week. CBC talks to residents Roger Inkster and Menardo DeCastro, as well as Doug Finamore of Outland Resources.

The population of a temporary neighbourhood set up for High River evacuees is expected to double by the end of the week.

Saddlebrook, just north of the southern Alberta town, alreadyhas 240 people displaced by the June flood living in trailers.

Dorm-styleaccommodations for singles are already open. Family suites are opening up this week.

The total population of the camp is expected to reach 1,200 by the fall.

There will also be three restaurants, four recreation halls, four parks, a soccer field and a dog park. Some buildings also have fitness facilities, pool tables and fireplaces.
