Fatal southeast Calgary Christmas morning shooting deemed a homicide

Police have determined that afatal shooting in Calgary's southeast on Christmas morning that left one man deadwas a homicide.

It marks Calgary's 26th homicide of the year

Police have determined that afatal shooting in Calgary's southeast on Christmas morning that left one man deadwas a homicide.

An autopsy was completed onTuesdayby the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which confirmed the identity of the victim and that he was a24-year-old man.

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the 2600 block of 35th Street S.E. for several reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, police found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim wastransported to hospital where he died of his injuries.

This is Calgary's 26th homicide of the year and investigators are currently determining the motivation behind the incident.

At this point, it is unknown if this was a targeted shooting, police said.
