Husband arrested after wife fatally shot, teen daughter injured in Pineridge

A Calgary father is in custody after his wife was fatally shot and their 15-year-old daughter was injured in what police say was likely a domestic dispute.

A Calgary man is in custody after his wife was fatally shot and their 15-year-old daughter injured in what police say was likely a domestic dispute.

The teenage girl called 911 at about 12:15 a.m. to report the shooting at the home inPineridge,in the city's northeast.

Hien Tuan Lam, 43, has been charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in connection with the shooting. (CBC)

Numerous neighbours also called police to say they had heard gunshots at the house in the 6900 block of Rundlehorn Drive. N.E., said Insp. Joel Matthews.

A woman in her 30s was found dead in the house. The teenage girl was taken to hospital in non-life-threatening condition with a suspected gunshot wound, policesaid.

The suspect, who fled in a pickup truck with two younger children, was quickly located by police in the 4000 block of Whitehorn Drive N.E.

He fired one shot in the air from inside the truck, but was quickly arrestedwithout incident after police surrounded him.

"He pulled over the vehicle, got out and surrendered to police," Matthewssaid.

An 11-year-old girl and a three-year-old boy were found in the vehicle unharmed and taken into protective custody.

It's not believed police had been called to the house before, however Matthews said the suspect had had dealings with police in the past.

"He's known to us.I can't get into details," he said.
