Fentanyl pills, guns seized in Lethbridge drug bust

Three men are facing several charges after police in Lethbridge seized more than 300 fentanyl pills from a residence.

Police in Lethbridge seized more than 300 fentanyl pills from a residence last month along with weapons, ammunition and other drugs. (ALERT)

Three men are facing several charges after police in Lethbridge seized more than 300 fentanyl pills from a residence.

The drugs were found during the execution of a search warrant at a north-side home on Feb. 26, the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said in a release.

Fentanyl sold on the street is often disguised as the drug OxyContin. It has been linked to a number of overdose deaths,police say.

Investigators also found long barrel firearms, ammunition and a replica handgun as well as marijuana and prescription pills in the residence.

Three men in their 20s are charged with a total of 20 drugs and weapons offences.

This is the second time in as many weeksfentanyl has been confiscated in Lethbridge.

On Feb. 20 ALERT seized 88 fentanyl pills from a south-sideapartment.

Since 2014, more than 14,000 fentanyl pills have been seized across the province.
