MeredithBorowiec, the Calgary mother who is accused of throwing three babies in a dumpster, should be found guilty on two counts of second-degree murder, argued a Calgary lawyer Friday.

Borowiec, 32, was charged after an infant was found alive in a dumpster in 2010.

Calgary Crown Prosecutor Jamie Williamsalleged Friday that prior to that event, Borowiec gave birth to two other children who died after being left in the garbage.

Those incidents are alleged to have happened in 2008 and 2009.

Evidence in the trial included a videotaped confession Borowiec made to Calgary police in 2011.

Williams told Justice Peter McIntyre that the motheradmitsto the births and hearing each baby cry, proving they were alive when she threw them in the garbage.

Infanticide

Borowiec'sdefence lawyer is expected to argue the judge should consider the lesser crime of infanticide which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.

A key factor in that charge is whether the accused is suffering from a mental disorder.

The Crown argued that there is no evidence to show Borowiecwas then, or is now, suffering from adisorder.
