4 Calgary homes damaged by fire in Cranston neighbourhood

The Calgary Fire Department confirmed toCBC that two homes were damaged extensively and another two homes have exterior damage.

Fire crews were called to a fire onCranfield Crescent in the Cranston neighbourhood in southeast Calgary Thursday evening.

The Calgary Fire Department said two homes were damaged extensively, and another two homes have suffered mainly exterior damage.

The fire department said in a statement that they began receiving calls about the firearound 6:45 p.m.

When crews arrived at the scene, one home was engulfed in flames, and the fire was spreading to the two houses beside it and the one behind it.

More than 25 firefighters worked to put out a fire that damaged four homes in Calgary's southeast.

There were 13 people in thefour houses damaged by the fire. Residents and neighbours had already evacuated when fire crews arrived and everyone was accounted for.

Four people were evaluated by EMS, and three of them were sent to the hospital because ofsmoke inhalation.

More than 25 firefightersworked to bring the fire under control using large volume hose lines and an aerial ladder.

The Calgary Police Service was also on site, as well asATCO and Enmax.

The fire department said icy roads and cars in the area driving to the scene made it challenging for crews to enter.

The cause of the fire is still under investigationand some crews remained overnight.
