Some homeowners in Harvest Hills say they were "blindsided" by the sale of the community's golf course to a developer of residential properties.

People who live beside the Harvest Hills golf course are concerned about the sale of the land to a housing developer.

Some residents of Harvest Hills say they were "blindsided" by the sale of thecommunity's golf course to a developer.

Stuart Cantrill and his wife moved into a home backing on the golf course two years ago.

"An established golf course, you know large trees, you just never ever thought that this would be something that could potentially be redeveloped," he said.

Rose Alibhai has lived in the neighbourhood for eight years.

"It will totally destroy the environment and the whole neighbourhood pretty much," she said.

No rezoning application has been made yet and the developer is holding a series of open houses this weekat the Harvest Hills Golf Course clubhouseto hear residents' views on the potential redevelopment of the golf course.

Company official Chris Ollenberger said many things must happen before the project moves ahead. "Nobody has made any decisions. It's ultimately up to city council, he said.

The developer says the golf course will remainin operation next summer.
