2 drivers killed in head-on crash southwest of Calgary

Two drivers were killed when a car and an SUV collided head-on Monday afternoon on Highway 22 southwest of Calgary.

Two drivers were killedwhen a car and an SUVcollided head-on Monday afternoon on a highway southwest of Calgary.

The collision happened on Highway 22 at Range Road 21, about six kilometres south of the Maycroft Bridge, at about 4:50 p.m., RCMP said in a release.

The lone, 34-year-old male occupant of the car from Leduc and the 59-year-old man driving the SUV died at the scene.

After the initial collision, a semi-tractor collided withthe car. The driver of that truck was not injured.

An adult female passenger of the SUV wastaken to a Calgary hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

Both occupants of the SUV were from Creston, B.C.

Foggy weather conditions were reported at the time of the crash.

Crowsnest Pass RCMP along with an RCMP collision analyst continue to investigate the crash.

The names of the deceased will not be released.
