High River officials are asking residents to severely restrict water use after a technical malfunction caused a flood in the treatment plant.

High River officials are asking residents to severely restrict water use.

The Alberta town's water treatment plant was shut down Tuesdaymorning after a technical malfunction caused a flood in the building.

Officials are asking people not to flush the toilet unless they have to, stop outside watering, and try to restrict laundry and other household uses for now. More information is available on the town's website.

The water is safe to drink and crews are trying to get the water plant online as quickly as possible.
