Police release driver description, graphic images of injured toddler in Deer Ridge hit and run

Police have releaseda description of the man who left the scene after hitting a toddlerin Deer Ridge in southeast Calgary last Monday.

A three-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle June 22 near a green space in Deer Ridge, a community in southeast Calgary. Police are seeking the public's assistance in locating the driver who did not remain at the scene. (Google)

Police have releaseda description of the man who left the scene after hitting a toddlerin Deer Ridge in southeast Calgary last Monday.

Police said athree-year-old girl named Kaylie wascrossing a green spaceat theDeerfield Villas townhouse complexwhen she was struck by a dark-coloured SUV at around 10: 40 a.m. on June 22.

The driver did not remain at the scene. The child was taken toAlberta Children's Hospital with serious head injuries.

Police are looking for a minivan-style vehicle, possibly dark green. Police described the driver on Monday asa Black male with very close-cropped hair or a bald head.

At the time of the incident, police said it was possiblethe driver was not aware that he had struck the child.

Anyone with informationis asked to call the Calgary Police Service's traffic reconstruction unit at 403-428-4000.
